Any veteran football coach knows the key to success starts in the trenches.
Navy needs to rebuild its offensive and defensive lines as it begins spring practice on Monday afternoon. The Midshipmen lost all five starters along the offensive line and two of three starters on the defensive line.
Head coach Ken Niumatalolo met with members of the media last Monday to preview spring camp. Asked about areas of concern, Niumatalolo immediately mentioned the defensive line since Navy will graduate two good ones in nose guard Bernie Sarra and left end Will Anthony.
Sarra was a three-year starter and recorded 104 career tackles while routinely taking on double-teams.
