Navy lacrosse hopes to play up-tempo to take advantage of slick stick-work

Rick Sowell has been around long enough to not to put too much stock into preseason scrimmage results. However, the eighth-year Navy head coach also knows it would be foolish to completely discount what happens in those settings.

Sowell feels he has seen enough since the start of preseason practice to conclude the Midshipmen are very skilled on the offensive side of the field and have the potential to score in bunches.

“We have some slick sticks, a group of guys who can really bang the ball around,” Sowell said. “Obviously, we need to prove we can do it when the games count, but I’ve been very encouraged by what I’ve seen out of our offense.
