Navy football notebook: Coach Ken Niumatalolo says altitude a factor at Air Force, but not a major concern

There is a sign posted in the visiting locker room at Falcon Stadium specifically designed to psyche out Air Force opponents.

“WARNING: LACK OF OXYGEN” is the headline written inside a bright red box atop the placard. Below that is the definition of Hypoxia, a condition where the body as a whole is deprived of oxygen.

Generalized hypoxia occurs in healthy people when they ascend to high altitude – I.E. Falcon Stadium. Causing altitude sickness leading to potentially FATAL COMPLICATIONS (also outlined in red). Symptoms include headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, a feeling of euphoria and nausea.
