A large contingent of visiting high school coaches got a good glimpse of what the Navy defense hopes to look like this coming season during a Saturday morning practice session.
Navy spent almost two hours engaged in an intra-squad scrimmage and the defense flashed the aggressive, attacking style that new coordinator Brian Newberry is installing. Inside linebacker Diego Fagot and outside linebacker Jake Springer led the way as the unit was unpredictable and disruptive.
“I’m excited about what we’re doing on defense. I love what we’re doing schematically,” Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said afterward.
