Navy, East Carolina renew rivalry that has been high-scoring

East Carolina could not find a way to contain Navy's patented triple-option offense during three successive meetings between the schools from 2010 through 2012.

The Midshipmen absolutely shredded the Pirates, averaging 56 points and 526 total yards of offense in those three games.

Few fans of either program will forget the 2010 matchup when quarterback Ricky Dobbs directed Navy to a record-setting romp at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The Midshipmen rolled up 521 rushing yards and took advantage of a flurry of turnovers early in the first half in steamrolling the Pirates, 76-35.

That marked the most points the Midshipmen had scored since 1919 and the most points the Pirates had allowed since 1932.
