Navy defensive captain takes pride in forcing fumbles

Safety Sean Williams has earned a very Naval nickname for his play on the football field.

“We call Sean the torpedo because of the way he comes in and tackles,” Navy secondary coach Dan O’Brien said.

It’s appropriate considering the definition of a torpedo is a “self-propelled underwater missile designed to be fired from a ship or submarine and to explode on reaching a target.”

Williams certainly looks like he’s been launched and propelled based off the impact he makes on opposing ball-carriers. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound senior has demonstrated quite a knack for separating running backs, wide receivers and tight ends from the football.
