Navy defense had no answers for Bulls

TAMPA — Defensive coordinator Dale Pehrson still looked somewhat shaken as he emerged from the Navy locker room deep in the bowls of Raymond James Stadium just before midnight on Friday.

Pehrson had just endured a defensive coordinator's ultimate nightmare — an opponent that just could not be stopped.

South Florida raced up and down the field with impunity in amassing 629 total yards during a wild 52-45 victory over No. 22 Navy on Friday night at Raymond James Stadium. Dynamic quarterback Quinton Flowers led the way as the Bulls took a commanding 42-14 halftime lead then held off a late charge by the Midshipmen.
