Navy basketball uses JV program to develop into Patriot League contender

Jace Hogan appeared in only nine Navy men's basketball games as a freshman last season, logging a mere 94 minutes and scoring 29 points.

Suddenly as a sophomore, Hogan has blossomed into a standout performer — averaging 24 minutes per game while ranking second on the team in rebounding and third in scoring.

Both Hogan and head coach Ed DeChellis credit the experience the player received last season as a member of the Navy Basketball Development Team. That squad, which DeChellis purposefully does not call junior varsity, annually plays about a dozen games against junior colleges and prep schools around the region.
