Navy adds top-notch transfer that overcame difficult upbringing

It’s rare for the Navy football program to get a transfer from a Big Ten school.

It’s rarer still for someone who was homeless in high school to wind up at the Naval Academy,

Such is the unique and remarkable story of Dallas Jeanty, a highly-regarded football player who has overcome an extremely difficult upbringing.

Jeanty is a freshman member of the Navy scout team, ineligible to play this season per NCAA transfer rules. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native could complain about the rigors of going through plebe year or the grind of going against the first team offense in practice, but instead walks around the academy with a perpetual smile on his face.
