It began at the youth level when Trybus excelled as a member of the McDowell Wrestling Club, a well-regarded program in Erie, Pennsylvania.
It continued at Bohemia Manor High where Trybus was a state qualifier as a freshman then went 31-3 and captured a 1A/2A East Region championship as a sophomore.
Success followed them at a new school, too. Trybus and his twin brother Kyle, seeking better competition and more exposure, transferred to Mount St. Joseph High School as juniors, and Trybus was a runner-up at the Maryland Independent Athletic Association and Maryland Independent Schools state tournaments that season.
