An error by its ace pitcher and a baserunning blunder had Navy on the ropes during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with Army West Point at Bishop Stadium.
But typical of this year's team, Navy had its act together when it counted. The Mids rallied for a 3-2 victory in Game 1, then capitalized on some shoddy fielding by the Black Knights in Game 2 for a 6-2 victory and a sweep of their Patriot League doubleheader.
Navy improved to 31-11-1 overall and remained in first place in the Patriot League with a 10-4 mark. The Game 1 victory and Saturday sweep guaranteed the Mids the Star for the series, which concludes with another doubleheader Sunday at noon.
