I put a damper on the post-game press conference when I pointed out to coach Ken Niumatalolo that Navy still needs to clean up some things in all areas.
Navy was fortunate to escape with a 28-24 victory over Connecticut in the American Athletic Conference opener for both schools. The Midshipmen won despite an ugly second half that saw the offensive go stagnant and the defense give up several long drives. Special teams wasn't exempt as a blocked field goal and shanked punt both proved costly.
Of course, Niumatalolo knew all this and wasn't in a mood to think about such issues.
