As far as playing the part of an inside linebacker, Micah Thomas comes right out of central casting.
Thomas fits the description perfectly in terms of all the attributes the Navy coaching staff looks for in an inside linebacker for its 3-4 defensive scheme. He is 6-foot-1, 241 pounds and boasts superb speed for that size. He can run sideline-to-sideline and deliver a powerful hit upon arrival.
“To me, Micah is really the complete package,” Navy inside linebackers coach Steve Johns said. “He’s big, he’s fast, he’s extremely intelligent. He plays very hard and is really a leader out on the field.
