When Shelley White suffered a torn Achilles tendon in preseason practice, he immediately set a goal for returning for the Army-Navy game.
There has been precedent for that at Navy with linebacker Jimmy Britton playing on special teams in last year's game against Army after making a remarkable recovery from a broken foot.
Unfortunately for White, the goal had to be amended after it became clear he was not going to be fully healed and rehabilitated in time to play in a football game again this season. That is why the Archbishop Spalding product is thrilled that he'll be in uniform on Saturday afternoon when the 116th Army-Navy game commences at Lincoln Financial Field.
