Defensive coordinator Dale Pehrson singled out Anthony Villalobos as one of the surprise performers of spring camp during an interview last week. Pehrson praised the defensive end for being "a tough, physical kid with a great motor."
Apparently, the rest of the Navy coaching staff agreed with that assessment. On Friday, Villalobos was announced as winner of the Vice Admiral William P. Mack Award, presented annually to the most improved player during spring drills.
"Anthony was very impressive this spring and is a guy that we are going to count on in the fall," Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said.
