Four heads are better than one: Navy football captains assume command

Even over the phone, it was impossible not to see the passion displayed by Paul Carothers as he contemplated being named a Navy football team captain.

Carothers has been a reserve inside linebacker throughout his career, appearing in only 12 games over three seasons. However, the Georgia native has clearly made an impression on teammates with his workmanlike approach.

“Being voted as a captain by my brothers means a lot to me for a lot of reasons,” Carothers said. “That bunch of leaders in that room that are every bit as qualified as I am to do this job chose me… it’s an honor and a privilege and I don’t take it lightly.
