Navy and East Carolina are quite familiar with each other's football programs.
After all, the Midshipmen and Pirates squared off three consecutive seasons from 2010 to 2012. All three meetings came during the tenures of current head coaches Ken Niumatalolo (Navy) and Ruffin McNeill (East Carolina) with the two schools combining for 268 points.
Circumstances will be a bit different when Navy and East Carolina renew acquaintances on Saturday in Annapolis. The Mids and Pirates are now rivals in the American Athletic Conference.
East Carolina joined the American a year ago after competing in Conference USA from 1997 through 2013.
