Defense sparks Navy rally in Patriot League Tourney

Survive and advance. That is the mantra during March Madness. Style points don't matter at this point in the season.

Navy women's basketball didn't put forth anywhere near its best performance to open the Patriot League Tournament on Monday night. The Midshipmen did just enough to avoid a major upset and that's all that counts.

Senior forward Justice Swett notched a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds as second-seeded Navy rallied to beat No. 10 Lafayette, 53-37, in an ugly quarterfinal at Alumni Hall. Senior guard Sarita Condie added nine points and seven rebounds for the Midshipmen, who trailed by three early in the fourth quarter.
