When Peri Curtis was a youngster growing up in Annapolis, she routinely attended Navy women's basketball home games in order to see her older sister play.
Nikki Curtis was a 6-foot forward for Navy from 2001-2002 through 2004-2005. Peri Curtis was a wide-eyed elementary school student when she went to Alumni Hall to watch the Midshipmen.
"I remember I got really excited whenever we went to Nikki's games. I got to know all the players on the team and they would always say hello and high-five me after games," Peri recalled.
Nikki Curtis was a role player for Navy until enjoying a breakout senior season, averaging 13.
