Navy's football team will be without one of its top returning players for spring practice, and possibly all of next season.
Head coach Ken Niumatalolo confirmed on Tuesday that cornerback Brendon Clements has been removed from the roster indefinitely due to a violation of Naval Academy rules. Niumatalolo would not elaborate on the nature of the infraction and stopped short of calling it an outright dismissal.
Asked if Clements could possibly rejoin the team at a future date, Niumatalolo declined comment and reiterated the rising senior was not currently on the roster.
Clements was unavailable for comment.
