Navy's defense received a big boost on Friday when cornerback Brendon Clements was reinstated to the football team by head coach Ken Niumatalolo.
Clements was removed from the roster in late January due to a violation of Naval Academy rules. Niumatalolo made that decision and stopped short of saying Clements had been dismissed from the squad.
Asked during spring practice whether there was a chance Clements could rejoin the team in the future, Niumatalolo indicated that was not likely.
However, circumstances have apparently changed and now Navy has regained the services of arguably its top returning defender.
