Cornell seals game with play down the stretch

NAVY MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cornell (6-7) scored the last nine points of the game to come away with a 61-50 victory over the Navy (3-8) men’s basketball team Sunday afternoon at Newman Arena in Ithaca, N.Y.

“I thought we played really, really hard,” said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis. “We just couldn’t contain their best player, Matt Morgan, who is a senior and has led the Ivy League in scoring in three-straight years.”

Neither team held any kind of significant lead on the other in the first half. Cornell’s largest lead of the stanza was four points and Navy’s biggest cushion was three thanks to the Mids ending the half on a 7-0 run that gave them a 24-21 lead at the break.
