Navy kicker Bijan Nichols didn’t feel uncomfortable when he walked out to midfield at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday night. Sure, it was a long distance — 50 yards, to be exact — but he’s made kicks from that far before, both in practice and once for Rockwall-Heath High outside of Dallas, Texas, when he nailed a 53-yarder.
It was the wind that threatened to spook him. He couldn’t figure it out while kicking pregame, whether it was blowing in his face, at his back, left or right.
