NAVY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Navy's Justice Swett was named Friday as this year's recipient of the Patriot League Defensive Player-of-the-Year award for women's basketball. The league also announced that she was the lone unanimous selection for its inaugural five-player all-defensive team.
Swett has been a linchpin on Navy's defense that ranks second in the Patriot League and 25th nationally in scoring defense. The Mids are allowing foes to score only 55.3 points a game, an average that includes a 53.6 points-per-game mark to league foes. Foes were aided in their opportunities to score points against Navy this season due to the Mids being involved in an NCAA record-tying six overtime games, two of which were extended into two overtime periods.
