NAVY FOOTBALL: The Mids received 42 voting points, up 27 points from the previous week, in the Amway Coaches poll conducted by USA Today. Navy received the 27th most votes this week, 46 points behind Wisconsin. No. 25 Mississippi State has 104 voting points.
Navy received one voting point in the Associated Press poll, the same amount as Washington State. Tennessee and Pittsburgh are just ahead of the Mids with two voting points, while Boise State, Appalachian State and California have four voting points.
Navy is off to a 6-1 start for the first time since 2004 and in a three-way tie with Houston and Memphis for first in the American Athletic Conference West Division.
