NAVY BASEBALL: Senior left-hander Luke Gillingham pitched a four-hitter for his fifth career shutout to help the Mids sweep a Patriot League doubleheader from Lafayette on Sunday. Gillingham blanked the Leopards over seven innings as Navy won the first game, 7-0. The Mids (24-8-1, 4-2 PL) then banged out 15 hits to win the second game, 8-4.
Offensively over the doubleheader, Navy combined for 15 runs on 28 hits, eight of which were of the extra-base variety. Stephen Born led the way with three singles, three doubles and five RBIs. Matthew Wilcox, Adrian Chinnery, Connor Deneen and Sean Trent all reached base on four or more occasions.
