It's rare that a college football player who saw significant action as a freshman and sophomore would give up the game when almost assured of being a starter as a junior and senior.
That is the curious case of William Tuider, Navy's top returning outside linebacker who abruptly quit the team at the end of last semester.
Tuider burst onto the scene as a freshman, playing in all 13 games and totaling 32 tackles. The rangy 6-foot-2, 213-pounder was a real threat coming off the edge, recording four tackles for loss and two sacks.
Tuider started a total of four games last season, but was primarily the backup to Obi Uzoma and Chris Johnson at both outside linebacker spots.
