Bill Wagner: Abandoning the triple-option does not bode well for Navy football | COMMENTARY

I’ll start off by saying I liked a lot of the innovative elements the coaching staff incorporated into the offense Saturday night in Dallas.

That inside handoff to the slotback running the inside zone scheme is a wrinkle we have seen before and is very effective. There has always been a quick pitch to the fullback, but I don’t recall it featuring the play-side slotback delivering a crackback block.

I thought the passing game pieces were nicely devised and well-executed. Many longtime Navy football observers have called for more screen plays to take advantage of aggressive pursuit.
