Second-seeded Army West Point scored five runs over the final two innings and held off a rally by top-seeded Navy in the bottom of the ninth for an 8-5 victory in Game 1 of the 2018 Patriot League Baseball Championship Series on Sunday in Annapolis.
The league champion will be crowned on Monday, with Game 2 in the best-of-three series scheduled for noon. Game 3, if necessary, will follow at 3 p.m.
The entire championship series is being played at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium on the campus of the United States Naval Acdemy.
