AAC coaches cautious about contact guidelines

NEWPORT, R.I. — American Athletic Conference Media Day featured roundtable discussions among head coaches from each division with CBS Sports Network announcer Brent Stover serving as moderator.

Stover broached a hot topic when he asked the West Division coaches about new NCAA guidelines addressing the amount of physical contact allowed during practice. While there are no rules about how often college football teams can hit, the NCAA has recommended that no more than four live contact practices occur in a given week and that a maximum of 12 take place over the course of preseason.
