Nashville Predators: Why the Saber-tooth Tiger is Perfect

It began at the corner of 4th and Union Streets in the spring of 1971. After passing through many feet of solid rock during the early construction, the drill made it to a layer of mud. Continued digging ultimately resulted in the discovery of a nine-inch fang and a foreleg bone of Smilodon fatalis, also known as the saber-toothed tiger.

With a new hockey team coming to town, Nashville unveiled the team logo. With two gigantic, sharp fangs and an angry scowl, you wouldn’t want to cross paths with this animal. Shortly after, the Nashville hockey team was dubbed the Predators.
