After a tough loss to Boise State last Friday, the Dogs needed to bounce back and get a win over a tough San Diego State team to clinch the West Division, and keep their hopes of a Mountain West Championship alive. The team knew their goal was still in front of them, and were committed to getting back on track. And bounce back they did. Everyone knew going in that this would be a defensive struggle for both teams, with both sitting in the Top 20 of total defense going into the weekend. Rushing yards would be incredibly hard to find, with passing offense being the key for both teams.
