The Boise State Broncos easily took care of the New Mexico Lobos on Friday night and their win was rewarded with a bump in the polls which now place them at 15th at both the USA TODAY coaches poll and the Associated Press poll.
While these polls do not really matter in the College Football Playoff rankings but they are somewhat in the same neighborhood and there is a huge gap between Boise State and the contenders for the automatic bid from the Group of Five teams toward a New Year’s Six Bowl game.
Houston is ranked higher at 12th and 13th but they need to find their way back in the American race and with Navy being a division opponent and getting the win over the weekend it will take a lot for the Cougars to get into the mix for this auto bid.
