The 49ers are approaching the end of a disappointing year that many saw coming for Jim Tomsula in his first season. The question becomes: what's the best approach to the head coaching situation? We try to find answers.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - There are a number of different angles to approach the San Francisco 49ers' coaching situation heading into 2016.

But first, let's point out the obvious: Jim Tomsula has not done much to inspire confidence in his first season as Jed York's appointed leading man.

-The 49ers are 4-9, eliminated from the postseason, and are coming off an embarrassing, lopsided loss to one of the league's most downtrodden teams, the Cleveland Browns.
