With the 2016 NFL draft picks now getting acclimated to their new surroundings and many teams already conducting rookie minicamps, it’s worth a look back and seeing where these picks developed their skills in high school.
The 253 draft picks represented 37 states, Washington D.C., Australia, Germany and Nigeria. Texas won the prize this year with 32 players getting their high school football training there, but Florida wasn’t far behind with 30, and California had 26. (Last year, Florida was first with 39 players drafted.) In all, six states – including Georgia (15), Ohio (14) and Illinois (10) – had double-digit players from their high schools chosen, according to a study by USA Football.
