Staley misses second straight practice

The 49ers might be without their best offensive lineman Sunday.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - San Francisco 49ers left tackle Joe Staley missed practice for the second straight day Thursday while dealing with a knee injury, leaving his status for Sunday's game on the road against the Giants in doubt.

If Staley can't play, it's likely Alex Boone slides from left guard to left tackle, with either Ian Silberman or Brandon Thomas moving into the starting lineup at left guard.

The 49ers offensive line has struggled so far this season, allowing pressure to Colin Kaepernick on more than 43 percent of his drop backs, according to Pro Football Focus, ranking second-worst in the NFL headed into Week 5.
