During a sunny afternoon at the San Diego State practice facility, the Aztecs’ first spring football game finished at 17-16.
Despite a low scoring game, the main highlights were seen on the defensive end. The Aztecs’ defense forced five turnovers over the course of the game. Four of those turnovers were interceptions, as the Aztecs led the nation in interceptions last season.
“I thought the defense dominated the scrimmage, but the offense did not play a lot of our playmakers," head coach Rocky Long said of the scrimmage. "Our starting quarterback and starting tailback were not out there.
