San José State (7-5, 6-2 MW) came out fast and hard to immediately surprise UNLV (9-3, 6-2 MW) before managing a 37-31 win in Las Vegas Saturday afternoon.
The Spartan win also launches a computer cascade to decide which two Mountain West teams face-off next week for the conference championship between SJSU, Boise State and UNLV, who are all 6-2 in conference play.
Of course, no Spartan coach or player put much weight on a computer decision, which in itself defines an aspect to what head coach Brent Brennan has preached from day one - to control only what you can control.
