The San Jose State Spartans are surprising teams this year as they sit at 4-4 and are attempting to become bowl eligible since 2012. However, that goal took a big hit this past week when starting wide receiver Tyler Winston has been ruled out indefensibly with a knee injury.
The injury occurred in the third quarter against the Nevada Wolf Pack, he left in the third quarter and did not return. An MRI did not reveal any significant ligament damage, but the official diagnosis is a sprain.
"It's very tender right now," head coach Ron Caragher said of Winston's knee.
