San Diego State forward Zylan Cheatham has received his release to transfer from the university, Jeff Goodman reported Friday afternoon.
Cheatham was a focal part of the Aztecs’ 19-14 season, averaging 9.1 points, 6.3 rebounds per game and the best offensive and defensive efficiency among SDSU players that played more than 16 minutes per game.
A four-star recruit by the way of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheatham also received offers from Arizona State, Memphis, New Mexico and Washington during his recruiting process. Cheatham was ranked 88th overall in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2014.
With Steve Fisher’s retirement, new head coach Brian Dutcher will have his work cut out for next season.
