Rookie Myles Turner Earns First NBA Start

Recent 19.6-point-per-game production elevates forward.

The Indiana Pacers, in need of something to shake them out of their recent funk, are giving rookie forward Myles Turner his first NBA start Thursday night against the Atlanta Hawks at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Turner has earned it with his stellar play. He’s averaged 19.6 points in his past five games, in addition to grabbing 5 rebounds per game and blocking 14 shots. A 25-point game at Denver on Jan. 17 was merely a prelude to a 31-point effort at Golden State five days later.

The 11th overall pick out of Texas scored 16 points in his first eight minutes of Tuesday’s home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
