Reports: Pacers To Add Center Al Jefferson

The 12-year-pro reportedly agrees to three-year, $30 million deal.

An Indiana Pacers squad in need of strength inside and a better bench reportedly took a significant step to address both Friday in reaching a verbal agreement on a three-year, $30 million contract with center Al Jefferson, according to multiple news reports.

The 12-year veteran is expected to sign the contract on or after July 7, when the NBA’s moratorium on signings and trades ends. Trades to acquire point guard Jeff Teague and forward Thaddeus Young will also become official then.

At 6-10 and 289 pounds, Jefferson brings the kind of inside presence the Pacers lack.
