The New Mexico coaching search took a wild turn on over the weekend and through Mounda when reports came out that the top four choices for the Lobos were no longer in consideration: Joe Dooley (FGCU), Scott Cross (UT-Arlington), Steve Forbes (Eastern Tennessee State) and James Borrego (San Antonio Spurs assistant coach).
Then a report came out Monday night from Jon Rothstein that said New Mexico is “close to finalizing a deal” with New Mexico State's Paul Weir.
