The Lobos continue to make quick work of their opponents by jumping out to an early lead and not letting up until the final horn sounds.
New Mexico jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in this one. They were up 38-19 at halftime behind 59 percent shooting to Loyola’s 25 percnet. Moreover, they out-rebounded the Ramblers 20 to 12 and had 14 more points in the paint than Loyola at the midway point.
They finished the game by holding Loyola to under 32 percent while outworking them on the boards 38-21. Power forward Joe Furstinger was particularly disruptive on the defense end, accounting for three of UNM's eight blocks.
