Day 2 of the Mountain West tournament provided some exciting baseball. It started with defending tournament champion San Diego State Aztecs staying alive by eliminating UNLV, 18-8.
Then there was regular season champion Fresno State losing their opening game against Air Force, a team that they won all six matchup this year. The Falcons won 9-7 and now the Bulldogs are facing elimination after one game. Fresno State did not use their ace Jimmy Lambert, so that is a positive they can take away from their loss.
The final game of the day say a pitching gem by New Mexico starter Colton Thomson who pitches a complete game shutout for the Lobos to go along with 11 strikeouts in their 3-0 victory over Nevada.
