Although Gipson missed a good portion of the 2015 season with injuries, he was a Pro Bowler in 2014 and represents a major upgrade at free safety.
The team won't have to depend on fringe NFL players, much less starters such as Josh Evans and Sergio Brown to fill their needs at the position.
