SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Running back Carlos Hyde hasn't practice since the loss Oct. 22 to the Seahawks, and it never looked like he was going to return to the field this season after news of a stress fracture in his left foot surfaced before that Thursday night game.
The San Francisco 49ers (4-8) finally placed Hyde on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, making room on the 53-man roster for tight end Brian Leonhardt from the practice squad in time for Sunday's road game against the Cleveland Browns.
