The Hawaii Warriors football team surprised some this morning when it was revealed that they had been voted for in both the Coaches and AP polls. The Warriors received 4 votes in the coaches poll, and 3 votes in the AP poll. Hawaii hasn’t been ranked since the tail end of the 2010 season, in which they were ranked 25th in the home finale vs. UNLV and 24th in the bowl loss vs. Tulsa in the coaches poll.
Receiving votes in the polls isn’t always noteworthy, but for a program that hasn’t even been in the discussion for a ranking for around 7 years or so, it’s a pleasant surprise for a squad picked to finish 5th in the West Division by the media.
