Fresno State vs. Nebraska recap: ‘Dogs fight early, fade late in 43-10 loss

A Big Red crowd of 90,013 Nebraska fans didn’t faze the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday night, but a young squad couldn’t take full advantage of the hand they were dealt and fell 43-10 to the Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium.

Fresno State’s season opener didn’t get off to a great start, as Kody Kroening missed a 32-yard field goal and Nebraska responded with back-to-back touchdown drives (capped each time by sophomore Devine Ozigbo, who led the Huskers with 103 yards rushing on 17 carries). A blocked punt, however, gave Chason Virgil and the offense a short field, and the ‘Dogs answered with Aaron Peck, who hauled in a tough catch in the back of the end zone for a score.
