Colorado State releases statement on Big 12 not expanding

The Big 12 Conference decided to not expand the conference on Monday. Colorado State University president Tony Frank released a statement about the process and about the future for the Colorado State Rams.

The future for the Rams can go in multiple directions. It can remain the same and stay in the Mountain West. They could join the AAC and push for Power 6 status.

Colorado State could join a new conference of the best of the rest of the Group of Five teams and try to earn power league status. Expansion could also still be a possibility especially since both Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby and Oklahoma president David Boren said “never say, never” on the league adding teams to their conference, but in the meantime it is not on the active agenda.
